Reign FC’s Megan Rapinoe struck the corner kick that led to the game-winning goal for the U.S. Women’s National Team against Sweden on Thursday. The 2-0 result completed the United States’ sweep of Group F at the World Cup.
Just three minutes in, Rapinoe hit a low corner toward the near post, where Sam Mewis flicked it inside to Lindsay Horan for the goal-line conversion. Rapinoe played 83 minutes for the U.S., eventually making way for substitute Mallory Pugh.
The United States scored again shortly after halftime. Tobin Heath hit a low shot that bounced off Jonna Andersson for an own goal in the 50th minute.
