Legend Preview: Melissa Arnot Reid
Celebrating extraordinary female leaders in the Pacific Northwest
At each home match Seattle Reign and Starbucks will honor one woman as a Legend in recognition of her extraordinary contributions to our community and beyond. Legends are chosen from corporate, non-profit, academic, athletic, and civic organizations with a presence in Washington State. Each Legend has made a lasting impact in their respective field or discipline.
This Friday, we honor Melissa Arnot Reid, Mountain Guide, Cofounder of The Juniper Fund, Author and Mother. Read more about Melissa below and stay tuned to read more about her full story:
Melissa is the first American woman to successfully summit and descend Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen. She has climbed the world’s highest peak six times, in addition to making many other notable climbs around the world.
Melissa has devoted her life to learning from the mountains and sharing that knowledge with others. In 2012, she co-founded The Juniper Fund to provide financial support to families of local workers killed in the mountains of Nepal, and she continues to be actively involved with the fund.
Hardworking and determined, Melissa is a passionate seeker of shared adventures and perfecting the balance of learning and teaching. The accomplished mountain guide and athlete is also an author and mother.
