12 Seattle Reign FC Players Called up for May-June International Window
Seattle Reign FC has 12 players joining their national teams during the May and June international window, playing for seven teams in a collective 12 matches.
Four Reign FC players are joining the United States Under-23 Women’s Youth National Team for a trip to Germany – defenders Jordyn Bugg and Emily Mason, midfielder Sam Meza and forward Maddie Dahlien. The players will participate in a training camp and two friendly matches against the German U-23 side. Bugg, Dahlien, Mason and Meza make up a group of 12 players on the roster that have previously competed for the USA at a FIFA Youth Women’s World Cup.
Joining the senior United States Women’s National Team, goalkeeper Claudia Dickey and Lynn Biyendolo will travel to Minnesota and Missouri to take on China PR and Jamaica in back-to-back friendly matches. This marks Dickey’s first USWNT game roster call up after she attended the USA’s January training camp earlier this year. Biyendolo, an experienced national team player with 78 caps and 22 goals, rejoins the roster after missing the squad’s April matches.
International veterans, forwards Jordyn Huitema and Nérilia Mondesir, are representing Canada and Haiti respectively as the two teams go head-to-head in a pair of friendly fixtures in Canada. The home side currently a perfect all-time record against Haiti, having won all three historical match ups. The two teams have not gone head-to-head since 2012 during a Concacaf Women’s Olympic Qualifying match, where Canada won 6-0.
Traveling to South Korea, midfielder Ji So-Yun is set to play two friendly matches with Korea Republic against Colombia. This marks the first slate of home matches for Head Coach Shin Sang-woo, who was appointed in October. Korea most recently took on Colombia in the group stage of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and fell 2-0, first conceding a penalty kick in the 30th minute, followed by a run of play goal just nine minutes later.
Rounding out the Reign’s international call ups are the three players competing in the UEFA Women’s Nations League – Forward Ana-Maria Crnogorčević representing Switzerland and midfielders Jess Fishlock and Angharad James-Turner called up for Wales.
Switzerland is set to take on France and Norway, in one match on the road and one match at home. The Swiss currently sit at the bottom of standings in Group A2, so victory is imperative for the squad.
The Welsh team is set to take on two familiar opponents, Denmark and Italy. They will first travel to Denmark before hosting Italy in Swansea. Coming off the momentum of a massive 1-1 draw against Sweden last month, Cymru will be hoping for two positive results to maintain their place in League A, as they currently sit in fourth place in Group A4.
