Behind the Kit: Reign FC Enters the 2026 Campaign with Renewed Purpose and Resilience
As announced today, Seattle Reign FC will wear The Surge Kit as its official third kit during the 2026 NWSL season – and this kit means more.
The club’s first third kit since 2015, it tells the story of this club’s rich history as a founding member of the NWSL and captures its constant evolution as the Reign stride forward into the 2026 season and beyond.
The striking color trio of Deep Concord Blue, Royal Pulse and Volt Yellow come together to tell the tale of the players who propelled women’s soccer forward, those who have embraced the change, and whose who will spark the next era of evolution.
This club has always resided at the intersection of legacy and ambition. Forged by legends, shaped by veterans and vitalized by the next wave of stars, The Surge kit embodies both harmony and power. It's the inflection point as players who built this league come together with those that will define the future.
“I think now that I've been in the league for a decade, it's really interesting to look back on where it was when I first got in,” said Seattle Reign FC defender and captain Sofia Huerta. “Everything has changed. The facilities have changed. Even the positions in the front office have changed. The investment has changed. When I was first in the league, there was no investment in women's soccer. There's just been so much that's evolved.”
She continued, “It’s cool to be on this side where I've got to see both. Sometimes I don't think about it and then when I really start thinking about it, I'm like, wow, I was really in this league before it became anything. Now it's become something so big. It's very motivating.”
The generation that made this league what it is today has stepped up as leaders, guided by the wisdom they gained from the undoubtedly unique experiences this league has granted them.
“I think what motivates me is now that I'm older, there's really this position that I want to take. I want to help the younger players understand what it takes to be a good player and to be a professional because that wasn't necessarily something I had when I was younger.”
And the NWSL newcomers haven’t missed a beat as they’ve joined the league. Rather than attempting to replicate the paths of the players that have come before them, they are fighting to blaze trails of their own.
With more attention than ever on the league, up-and-coming stars like Jordyn Bugg, Emeri Adames and Ainsley McCammon and Sally Menti, to name a few, are doing more than just surviving the pressures of being a professional soccer player – they are thriving.
“You look at players like Jordyn, Emeri and Ainsley. Maybe when they first got here, you weren't sure what it was going to pan out to be. But now it seems like they've been professionals for years. And that says a lot about them. It also says a lot about the club and how we've been able to develop them. It says a lot about the team and how we've taken them in and we've allowed them to make mistakes and to also help them get back up when they're down,” said Huerta.
Menti, who has hit her stride for the Reign and earned her first United States Women’s National Team cap this year, has benefited from the mentorship of players like Huerta and Fishlock and looks forward to this season, as they all come together to write the next chapter in club history.
“I couldn't be more excited about the growth I already see from this group that the leaders are like taking responsibility of. We're all locked in this year and that starts with the leaders like Sof and Jess,” said Menti.
“This is my second year and I'll do whatever the team needs me to do. If that's stepping up in big moments and helping the team, and being a leader in some ways, I am more than happy to take that on that position. I think this is a big learning year for me again. I'm just going to try my best to learn as much from Jess and all the other veterans,” she added.
The unveiling of this new third kit signals the start of a new season for Reign FC, built on intent and fueled by grit. From the roots of its legacy to the velocity of its rise, Reign FC enters the 2026 campaign with renewed purpose and resilience, and has their eyes on the prize: a championship.
