Forward Jordyn Huitema Called Up to Canada Women’s National Team for SheBelieves Cup
As announced today by Canada Soccer, Reign FC forward Jordyn Huitema has been called up to the Canadian Women’s National Team for the SheBelieves Cup. One of 24 players named to the roster by Head Coach Casey Stoney, the squad prepares to take on Colombia, the United States and Argentina in the competition.
The 24-year-old was competing on the international stage long before joining Seattle Reign FC, as she made her senior national team debut at just 15 years old, in March 2017 and scored her first senior national team goal just a few months later, in June 2017.
She was the first Canadian player to score for the senior team, U-20 and U-17 teams all in the same year and continued to make history, as the first Canadian woman to forego the college game and play professionally out of high school when she signed a four-year contract with French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain before signing with Seattle.
A native of Chilliwack, Canada, Huitema has now made a home for herself in Seattle – and cemented her place on the pitch within the Reign’s lineup. The 2025 season saw the attacker rise to new heights, netting three goals as an integral part of the Reign’s attack.
Through pure hard work and dedication, Huitema has diversified her talents on the field, not only hungry to put the ball in the back of the net herself, but keen on setting up her teammates to score goals as well. She became an expert at holding up play and drawing defenders out of position, as well as fighting for every ball in her path.
She appeared in 22 matches for the Reign and was one of just four players to earn a goal and assist in the same match. Driven and determined, Huitema may be young in age, but brings a wealth of experience to the team, and has stepped up into a larger role this year.
After a solid preseason showing with the Reign in both Seattle and Indio, California, Huitema joins a Canadian squad that is searching for their first win since June. She is called up alongside Canada’s core group of forwards that includes some familiar faces, in Cloé Lacasse, Nichelle Prince and Evelyne Viens.
This marks Canada’s fourth SheBelieves Cup appearance, after competing in 2021, 2023 and 2024. The nation is yet to win the coveted SheBelieves Cup Champion title, coming in second, fourth and third in recent years. Huitema has played in a total of five SheBelieves Cup matches across the 2023 and 2024 iterations of the competition.
She will compete against Reign FC teammates Jordyn Bugg, Maddie Dahlien and Claudia Dickey, who were selected for the USWNT’s SheBelieves Cup roster.
