Match Forecast: Reign FC Closes Out Road Trip Against Bay FC

Key Info Ahead of the Match:
1. LAST MEETING – The Reign and Bay FC last met in October 2025 at Lumen Field in a match that ended 1-1. Bay took the lead in the first half against the run of play as Racheal Kundananji crossed a ball back post to Taylor Huff to finish first time.
The Reign trailed until the 84th minute, when none other than club original Jess Fishlock leveled the score. After entering the match as a substitute, she kickstarted the scoring sequence with a pass out wide to Maddie Dahlien. The speedy forward surged down the flank before crossing the ball toward Mia Fishel in the box. Bay’s defense worked to eliminate Fishel’s chance, but Fishlock was in place to clean it up.
Seattle and Bay have met four times in the regular season, resulting in two losses and two draws for the Reign.
2. SCOUTING BAY FC – Currently in 14th place in the NWSL standings, Bay FC played a midweek match against Gotham FC and narrowly fell 1-0. Gotham’s lone goal was scored early, in just the second minute of the match. On a corner kick, Jaelin Howell headed the ball back to Midge Purce, who found the back of the net.
Bay stayed in the match until the end, nearly finding an equalizer only five minutes later, but a lengthy review called the goal back, much the dismay of Bay.
3. KEEP SCORING GOALS – After scoring three goals across five matches in the month of May, Reign FC returned from the summer break with a renewed offense prowess, adding seven goals in their last four matches. The team has not been shutout a single time since returning to play and has scored two goals in every match in July except one.
Though Maddie Mercado leads the club this season with five goals scored, 10 other players have contributed to the goalscoring tally this season. With 11 total goalscorers so far this season, Reign FC leads the league.
Now, to expand on their goalscoring success, Seattle will look to carry that offensive threat into the second half of matches, as the club has scored just two goals this season in the final 45 minutes of matches.
4. PLAYERS TO WATCH – Reign FC forward Maddie Mercado is on a scoring streak, as she has netted a goal in Reign FC’s last three matches. She’ll be looking to continue that trend against Bay FC and extend her lead in the club’s golden boot race.
Ainsley McCammon, who recorded two assists against San Diego Wave FC last weekend, is another player to watch. She’s been a stalwart in the midfield for Seattle and continues to develop her ability to distribute a threatening ball from anywhere on the pitch.
For Bay FC, league veteran Abby Dahlkemper was activated from maternity leave ahead of Bay’s match against Gotham FC on Wednesday. The defender was a mainstay in Bay FC’s backline before she went on maternity leave and brings a plethora of skill and leadership to the field. She made her return to play as a late second half substitute on Wednesday, providing a glimpse of what she has to offer.
Jordan Silkowitz in goal has also been a solid performer for Bay and currently leads the NWSL in saves with 65. She made nine saves against Gotham FC to limit the defending champions to just one goal in the match.
