Key Info Ahead of the Match:

1. LAST MEETING – Seattle and Chicago last met on June 14 at Soldier Field in Chicago. After initially conceding two goals in the first half, the Reign clawed their way back into the match, ultimately earning a draw and stealing a point on the road.

The comeback didn’t begin until the 87th minute for the Reign. Forward Lynn Biyendolo was allowed enough time and space to settle the ball in front of goal and the Stars paid the price. Suddenly on the back foot, the home side conceded another goal to the Reign less than three minutes later, from the foot of defender Jordyn Bugg. Her attempt from the right side of the field soared through every Chicago player and into the back of the net, shocking the Stars and their fans.

In all NWSL competitions, the Reign have 11 wins, 12 losses and 9 draws against Chicago and have scored 46 goals compared to Chicago’s 45.

2. SCOUTING CHICAGO STARS FC – Chicago currently sits in 13th place in the NWSL standings, with 8 points from 15 games. They have earned one win, nine losses and five draws in 2025.

Most recently, the Stars battled to a 1-1 with Bay FC. Bay scored first, getting the board in the 30th minute when Chicago failed to clear the danger on a corner kick and Taylor Huff capitalized. However, before the end of the first half, Ally Schlegel found Shea Groom in Bay’s defensive half of the field. Groom took her space before slotting a low shot into the back of the net to equalize for Chicago. Neither team scored before the end of the match, taking just a point apiece after the end-to-end battle.

3. MUST WIN MATCH – Reign FC entered the week in sixth place in the NWSL standings – above the playoff line, but in a crowded table. In order to move up the table, this match is a must-win situation for Seattle. In front of a home crowd at Lumen Field, the team will be looking to get back to their winning ways and create a strong base of momentum to carry through the all-important second half of the NWSL season. After uncharacteristically conceding four goals last match, solid defense, paired with a continuation of the team’s goalscoring spell will be key to take down the Stars.

4. PLAYERS TO WATCH – Reign FC forward Emeri Adames has been a standout player recently and leads the team in goals scored this season with five. The energetic attacker has added three goals in the Reign’s last three games. Midfielder Jess Fishlock has also turned heads recently as she returned from international duty with Wales. The veteran wasted no time as she returned to NWSL play, recording two goals and one assist in the Reign’s last two matches.

For Chicago, goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher has recently returned to play after recovering from an injury that kept her on the D-45 list for much of the summer. She’s been in goal for the last two matches, conceding just once in each match. On the opposite end of the field, Ludmila has proved to be a dangerous attacker. She recorded both of Chicago’s goals against the Reign in the last head-to-head meeting between the two sides and has scored four total goals this season.
