Key Info Ahead of the Match:

1. LAST MEETING – Seattle and Kansas City last met earlier this season at Lumen Field, where a first half goal propelled the Reign past the Current. The May 2nd match up was the last time Kansas City was defeated. Forward Lynn Biyendolo opened her Reign FC account with a goal 37 minutes into the match. The scoreline held through the final whistle, though Claudia Dickey and the Reign’s backline had plenty of work to do in the final 45 minutes. The Current trailed for 60:10 of real time after conceding the goal, while they’ve been behind for a total of 5 minutes, 4 seconds combined in their other 19 games this season.

In all NWSL competitions, the Reign have six wins, five losses and one draw against the Current, with 13 goals scored compared to KC’s 12.

2. SCOUTING KC CURRENT – Kansas City is currently in first place in the NWSL standings, 14 points clear of any other team, earning a record of 16 wins, two losses and two draws this season. The team has not lost since being defeated by the Reign in May and are unbeaten in 13 straight regular-season games, including an eight-match shutout streak.

Most recently, the Current battled to a scoreless draw against the Washington Spirit, marking just the third time this season the team has failed to score in a match. Despite being up a player for nearly half an hour due to a second yellow card to a Washington player, KC couldn’t quite find the back of the net.

3. BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN – The Reign picked up a 1-0 win against Racing Louisville FC in their last match, weathering a storm of quality play from Louisville before finding the game-winning goal in the 90th minute. The win was the Reign’s first since August 1, though the team has only lost twice in their last 10 matches, dating back to the beginning of June. Notably, the match marked forward Mia Fishel’s first Reign FC start – a moment months in the making. Veteran midfielder Jess Fishlock notched her fifth goal of the season and 47th regular-season goal.

With the quick turnaround from Tuesday’s match, the Reign’s grit and roster depth will be put to the test against the top team in the league.

4. PLAYERS TO WATCH – Reign FC midfielder Jess Fishlock continues to prove that she can make an instant impact in any match, whether she starts or comes off the bench. The veteran midfielder has added five goals and two assists this season in just 11 appearances. At the other end of the pitch, goalkeeper Claudia Dickey continues to shine. In the Reign’s last game, she made four saves to secure her sixth shutout of the season and 12th regular-season shutout of all-time – just one shy of tying the club’s single-season record. She currently ranks third in saves this season across the league.

For Kansas City, defender Hailie Mace is a player to watch. In addition to playing in 19 matches as part of a KC squad that has conceded only 10 goals the entire season, Mace is tied for the most assists in the league this season, with five. She holds the club record for all-time regular season assists and is approaching the club’s single season assist record (6). Up top, Temwa Chawinga is enjoying a standout season with the Current. She is currently in second place in the NWSL Golden Boot race, though she did not appear in the Current’s last match. She has 12 goals in her 19 appearances in 2025.
