Reign Set to Kick off Two Match Homestand this Friday
Seattle Reign FC begins a two-match homestand at Lumen Field on Friday night when the team hosts the Kansas City Current at 7:30 p.m. PT (TICKETS). The Reign will be looking to continue its momentum, coming off a draw on the road against Bay FC and a home Cascadia Rivalry win in their last match at Lumen Field on April 18.
The 1-0 victory over Portland marked Seattle’s first home win of the 2025 season, a feat that the club has achieved many times before. The team has become accustomed to finding success with the backing of their supporters, having never lost more than five home matches in a single season at Lumen Field.
Known for their formidable home field advantage, the Reign earned nearly 70% of their total points at Lumen Field last season and conceded just 13 goals at Lumen Field – less than 30% of their total goal conceded. In addition, every shutout earned by the squad in 2024 took place in Seattle.
Always aiming to make Lumen Field a fortress against opponents, the 2022 and 2023 seasons laid a strong foundation for this Seattle success. The Reign finished the 2023 season with the third-most home wins and were one of four teams with two losses or less at home.
Though this Friday’s challenger, the Kansas City Current, has suffered just one loss this season, the Reign have only been defeated by the Current once in Seattle across all competitions, while picking up three home wins and a draw since the Current entered the league in 2021.
In order to secure an important three points, Seattle will aim to build off the home start they’ve recorded this season. The team has not conceded more than one goal in a single home match this season and has only suffered one home loss. Forwards Emeri Adames and Maddie Dahlien have both worked their way onto the scoresheet at Lumen Field, treating fans to two spectacular goals.
The highly anticipated matchup with the Current is set to feature fierce competitors on both sides, including midfielder Sam Meza and defender Phoebe McClernon for the Reign, who the lead the league in tackles and passing accuracy, respectively. On the other side of the field, Kansas City goalkeeper Lorena is tied for the second-best goals against average in the league and midfielder Debinha has scored three goals this season.
Fans have a lot to look forward to off the field as the club gears up for back-to-back home matches. This Friday’s match is the Reign’s Mental Wellness Match in partnership with MultiCare. Scarves up will be led by Dr. Jeffrey Eisen, President and Chief Medical Officer of MultiCare Behavioral Health Network, and our Starbucks Legend of the Match will be Dr. Chris Ladish, Assistant Vice President of Bessler Center at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital.
As always, there will be a host of activities around the stadium for fans to enjoy pre-match, including face painting, poster making, food trucks, games like Soccer Darts and more!
