Seattle Reign FC Defender Sofia Huerta Named to NWSL Best XI of the Month, Presented by Amazon Prime
The league’s all-time assist leader earns her second honor of 2026 after helping Reign FC record three clean sheets and secure all nine points available at home; Huerta’s 11th career Best XI of the Month selection is tied for the third-most in league history
Seattle Reign FC defender Sofia Huerta has been named to the NWSL Best XI of the Month, presented by Amazon Prime, following a standout September in which she helped Seattle record three clean sheets at home while scoring two goals. The recognition marks the 11th Best XI selection of her career, tied for the third-most in league history, and her second of the 2026 season.
Huerta started and played every minute of all five of the club’s matches in September, helping Seattle hold opponents scoreless at Lumen Field across all three home matches and extend its home unbeaten streak to seven. The co-captain also scored in back-to-back matches, finding the net at home against Bay FC before scoring on the road in a midweek matchup against Angel City FC.
Across the league, Huerta finished the month tied for the most interceptions among NWSL defenders with 11, while continuing to provide a consistent presence on both sides of the ball throughout Seattle’s push for the postseason.
Reign FC continues its push for the NWSL Playoffs tonight, Friday, October 2 (7:00 p.m. PT / NWSL+), returning to Lumen Field for the club’s second annual Queen’s Match against the North Carolina Courage. Tickets for the club’s final two regular season home matches are available at ReignFC.com/Tickets.
