Seattle Reign FC Extends Defender Madison Curry Through 2027

Seattle Reign FC today announced that defender Madison Curry has signed a contract extension through the 2028 NWSL season. The 25-year-old, who joined Seattle as a free agent in December 2024, has developed into a dependable presence in the Reign’s backline, building on a strong first season with the club and continuing to make an impact on both sides of the ball.

“Madison has shown tremendous growth since joining our club, and she's earned this opportunity through her consistency, professionalism and commitment to improving every day,” said Seattle Reign FC General Manager Lesle Gallimore. “She's a player who brings a competitive edge to our backline and has continued to develop her game within our environment. Securing her future in Seattle is an important part of building a strong, sustainable roster, and we're excited about the role she'll play in the years ahead.”

Curry has remained a consistent presence in Seattle’s defense throughout the 2026 NWSL season, recording 25 appearances (14 starts) and totaling 1,445 minutes played. The defender ranks second on the team with 52 tackles, while adding 52 clearances and 28 interceptions. Curry has also contributed in the attack, including on May 23 against Boston Legacy FC, when she connected with forward Maddie Dahlien to assist the game-winning goal. On October 2, Curry reached 50 career regular season appearances for Reign FC, another milestone in her continued development with the club.

“I'm incredibly grateful to continue my career in Seattle and be part of a club that has believed in me and pushed me to grow as a player,” said Curry. “I've learned so much from my teammates and the coaching staff, and I feel like I've continued to take important steps in my development since arriving here. There's a strong belief in what we're building, and I'm excited to keep contributing, competing and doing everything I can to help this team succeed.”

A California native, Curry began her professional career with hometown club Angel City FC, which selected her with the 51st overall pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft. She made an immediate impact during her rookie campaign, scoring her first professional goal in her first career start on March 30, 2024 against the Kansas City Current.

Across three NWSL seasons, Curry has recorded 58 starts in 73 regular season appearances, totaling 5,128 minutes played. The defender has contributed one goal and three assists while registering 196 tackles, 216 clearances and 113 interceptions, demonstrating her defensive impact and ability to contribute consistently at the professional level.

“Madison has really grown into her role here, and you can see how confident she's become across different areas of her game,” said Seattle Reign FC Head Coach Laura Harvey. “She's aggressive in how she defends, she's willing to do the work and she's assured in her decision-making on the ball. She's someone who wants to learn and get better, so we're excited to keep working with her and see how far she can take her game.”

Prior to entering the NWSL, Curry played three seasons at Princeton University, where she studied neuroscience and established herself as one of the Ivy League’s top defenders. She started 48 of her 51 collegiate appearances, contributing three goals and four assists while earning First Team All-Ivy League honors in all three seasons. Curry became just the fifth Princeton alumna to compete in the NWSL.
