Seattle Reign FC Hosts Lauren Holiday Impact Award Appreciation Match this Sunday
This Sunday, September 6, Seattle Reign FC hosts its annual Lauren Holiday Impact Award, presented by Nationwide, Appreciation Match. This match honors Reign FC’s 2026 nominee, Cassie Miller, and her partner organization, Nick of Time Foundation as the Reign and San Diego Wave go head-to-head. This marks the second consecutive year that Miller and Nick of Time have teamed up to champion this cause.
Well known amongst NWSL fans, the Lauren Holiday Impact Award was established in 2024 to honor FIFA Women's World Cup Champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist Lauren Holiday. The award highlights NWSL players making a meaningful difference in their community, as well as the organization of their choice.
For Miller, it was a no-brainer to work with Nick of Time for a second year, as the partnership has continued to blossom and reach new heights in 2026.
“I would say that the biggest growth is when I see fans, they come to me and talk about The Nick of Time Foundation, whereas last season, it was my first year in Seattle and fans were still getting to know me. Now, fans will come up to me and ask when the next Nick of Time event is. It’s really cool,” said Miller.
“I just think it’s my biggest purpose. At the end of the day, we’re just trying to get as many kids, as many young people screened as possible. In our Seattle Reign community, we have people understanding what it is, from our fans to academy.”
Nick of Time Foundation is a Pacific Northwest based nonprofit that is focused on improving youth heart health through screenings, emergency preparedness and life-saving education, with the ultimate goal of preventing Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in children and young adults.
This mission is deeply personal to Miller, as she has shared her experiences with underlying heart conditions since she was a college athlete.
“I was never resistant to telling my story. I had open heart surgery when I was a baby and it never really got brought up until college, when I had another heart surgery during my sophomore year. At that time, I realized I had a little bit of a platform and thought it would be really cool to let people understand that you can play at a high level even with an underlying heart condition.”
Through this partnership, Miller and Nick of Time frequently collaborate on events that allow people to learn more about heart health and get screened for potential underlying heart conditions. Over the summer, they hosted an event on the barge as part of Reign FC and Sounders FC Seattle Soccer Celebration. At this event, fans were invited to learn the importance of hands-only CPR and receive free ECGs.
At the match this Sunday, fans are invited to visit Nick of Time’s table, located on the East Main Concourse, at the top of the North Plaza stairs, to learn more about Nick of Time as an organization and the work they do to provide accessible heart screenings, CPR training and education to the community.
Nick of Time Foundation is also set to be honored on field as the Reign’s RISE Community Partner of the Match prior to kickoff and alongside Cassie Miller in a special halftime ceremony highlighting the work they have done together as part of the Lauren Holiday Impact Award program.
