Seattle Reign FC Lands Two Players on June NWSL Best XI, Presented By Amazon Prime
Reign FC teenagers Emeri Adames and Jordyn Bugg selected to the Best XI in June for their impact during a challenging month of three straight road matches across three different time zones
Seattle Reign FC forward Emeri Adames and defender Jordyn Bugg have been named to the NWSL Best XI of the Month, presented by Amazon Prime, for their standout performances during June competition, the league announced today. Adames earns her first-ever Best XI selection, while Bugg claims her second of the season. Adames, 19, and Bugg, 18, are the two youngest players selected among this month’s Best XI.
In a month that featured three consecutive road games across three different time zones, Reign FC remained unbeaten with a 2-0-1 record, outscoring opponents 8-4. Both players started in all three matches, with Bugg playing all 270 minutes and Adames logging 246 total minutes. The two second-year players combined for four goals, including a game-winning goal by Adames in San Diego and a game-tying goal by Bugg in Chicago.
Adames finished the month with three goals, including a brace in Utah, becoming the second-youngest player in NWSL history to record two goals in a single match. Bugg anchored the Reign defense with 15 clearances, 12 duels won, eight tackles and five interceptions across June’s three matches. Her 89th minute equalizer in Chicago completed a dramatic two-goal comeback at Soldier Field.
Both players were also recognized on the international stage in June. Adames received a call-up to the United States U-23 Women’s National Team training camp, while Bugg was the youngest player named to the USWNT in her first-ever selection. The California native made her senior national team debut on June 26 as a substitute and earned her first start on June 29, helping the squad record a shutout victory in both matches.
