Seattle Reign FC Welsh Midfielder Angharad James-Turner Signs Two-Year Contract Extension
The fourth-year NWSL veteran and Welsh captain signs through 2027 after leading her country in its first-ever UEFA European Women’s Championship
Seattle Reign FC today announced that Welsh international midfielder Angharad “Haz” James-Turner has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping her with the club through the 2027 season.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Haz back to Reign FC for two more seasons,” said Seattle Reign FC General Manager Lesle Gallimore. “As Captain of Wales, she brings steady leadership, composure, and experience – qualities that add invaluable consistency to our midfield. Haz is the kind of player every club wants, and we’re lucky to have her.”
James-Turner joined Reign FC from Tottenham Hotspur of the FA Women’s Super League ahead of the 2024 season and quickly became a consistent presence in the midfield. She has made 21 starts in 25 appearances, contributing one goal. Through the first half of the 2025 season, she ranks second among Reign FC midfielders in minutes played (759) and third on the team in tackles won (22). Among all NWSL players with at least 25 tackles this season, James-Turner leads the league with a tackle success rate of 81%.
“I couldn’t be happier to continue my journey in Seattle,” said James-Tuner. “This club and this city have truly made it feel like home. I’ve grown so much here over the past two seasons, both on and off the pitch, and I’m excited to keep building with this incredible group.”
James-Turner began her NWSL career with the North Carolina Courage in 2021 before joining the Orlando Pride for the 2022 season. Across four NWSL seasons, she has recorded 47 appearances, 34 starts and two goals.
Internationally, the 31-year-old has been a cornerstone of the Wales Women’s National Team since making her senior debut at just 17 years old. She has earned 135 caps and scored six goals, including one during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification campaign. In October 2024, James-Turner was named captain ahead of Wales’ historic first appearance at the UEFA Women’s European Championship. She started all three group-stage matches alongside Reign FC teammate Jess Fishlock.
Her captaincy marks the latest milestone in a decorated international career – the youngest Welsh player, male or female, to reach 100 caps, a three-time national award winner and Wales Women’s Player of the Year in 2017 after earning back-to-back Young Player of the Year honors in 2013 and 2014.
