Biyendolo, Bugg, Dickey and Meza Called Up to United States Women’s National Team

Four Seattle Reign FC players have been named to the United States Women’s National team 25-player roster for the upcoming international window by Head Coach Emma Hayes – Lynn Biyendolo, Jordyn Bugg, Claudia Dickey and Sam Meza.

The United States is set to take on Republic of Ireland twice, on June 26 and 29, and Canada once, on July 2. The roster does not feature the vast majority USA’s European-based players, with the exception of defender Naomi Girma of Chelsea FC. For each of the three friendly matches, Hayes will name 23 of the 25 total players to suit up.

"Having four players called into the senior U.S. Women’s National Team — including first-timers Sam Meza and Jordyn Bugg — speaks volumes about the level of talent and commitment we have at this club. Whether it's Claudia and Lynn continuing to raise the bar, or Sam and Jordyn stepping onto the senior stage for the first time, we’re incredibly proud to see the Reign so well represented,” said Seattle Reign FC General Manager Lesle Gallimore.

Forward Lynn Biyendolo brings the most experience of the four Reign players called up with 80 caps and 24 goals. She is one of just six players included on the roster to have played in a world championship at the senior level. Most recently, Biyendolo scored a brace for the USWNT in the team’s 4-0 win over Jamaica. Much like her role with the Reign, the attacker will bring a reliable sense of leadership to the United States roster.

Goalkeeper Claudia Dickey continues her standout season, getting called up to camp once again after earning her first game call up during the May-June international window.  The 25-year-old is still looking for her first cap, along with five other players on the roster. All three of the goalkeepers called up to this camp have earned first call-ups this year or at the end of last year and have experience with the U.S. U-20s.

Defender Jordyn Bugg and midfielder Sam Meza, two of the Reign’s rising young stars, have been called up to the senior national team for the first time ever. They both have extensive experience at the youth national team level and are two of four players called up for the first time during this camp.

All four of the first-time call ups have previously appeared on a U.S. roster in FIFA Youth World Cup. Bugg, the youngest player in camp, played in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup while Meza was on the USA’s 2018 FIFA U-17 WWC Team but did not see action. The midfielder has won a Concacaf title at the U-15, U-17 and U-20 levels. Both Bugg and Meza were most recently called up to the United States Under-23 Women’s Youth National Team for a trip to Germany when the Americans split games with the Germans.
