By the Numbers: Reign FC Races Past Louisville

Seattle Reign FC got back in the win column on the road against Racing Louisville FC on Saturday. The team fought its way to a gritty 1-0 result, propelled to victory by forward Maddie Dahlien’s 39th minute goal. The Reign are now in sixth place in the NWSL standings, with 14 points from nine matches.

Take a closer look at the match, by the numbers:

2 – Rookie forward Maddie Dahlien scored the game-winning goal in the 39th minute of the match. The strike marks her second career goal for the Reign and second game-winning goal.

2 – Midfielder Sam Meza earned her second assist of the season on Dahlien’s game-winner. The second-year player also led the team in passes in final third of the field

3 – The shutout win was the third clean sheet of the season for the Reign. Goalkeeper Claudia Dickey has been in goal for all three clean sheets and maintains her fourth-place ranking league-wide in goals against average (0.78).

5.1 – According to Expected Goals, Dickey has prevented nearly double the number of goals of any other goalkeeper in the NWSL this season (5.1).

6 – Dahlien is one of just six NWSL rookies this season with multiple goals. She finished the match with a team-high three shots, all on target.

6 – Defender Jordyn Bugg and forward Jordyn Huitema led the team in duels won, tied with six. The two were amongst a group of five players to record a successful dribble in the match.

8 – Reign FC defender and captain Lauren Barnes posted a stellar defensive performance, leading the team with eight clearances. She also added two tackles and an interception in the match.

9 – With the win, the Reign are now undefeated against Racing Louisville FC in all nine regular season meetings between the teams. This was the Reign’s third all-time victory against Louisville and second victory at Lynn Family Stadium.
