Curry and Fishlock Nominated for Assist of the Week

In addition to her Goal of the Week nomination, Seattle Reign FC midfielder Jess Fishlock has been nominated for Assist of the Week for her setup on the Reign’s first goal against the Portland Thorns on Sunday, scored by forward Emeri Adames.
The two connected just three minutes into the match. Defender Shae Holmes quickly restarted play with a throw-in to the feet of Fishlock, who easily turned into the center of the field and wasted no time, threading a defense-splitting pass to the feet of Adames. The 19-year-old displayed the poise of a veteran as she tapped the ball to the far post. The assist marked Fishlock’s second of the season and 30th all-time in the NWSL regular season.
Also nominated for Assist of the Week is Seattle Reign FC defender Madison Curry. Curry assisted the Reign’s second goal of the match, scored by Fishlock. Working with her fellow defenders to build out of the back, Curry broke into space on the right side of the field and crossed a ball to the back post, where Fishlock dove to head the ball into the back of the net.
Curry and Fishlock are nominated alongside Kansas City’s Kayla Sharples and Angel City’s Sveindís Jónsdóttir.
