Five Reason to Attend Seattle Reign FC vs. Angel City FC on Friday
Seattle Reign FC is back at Lumen Field taking on Angel City FC this Friday, August 1 at 7:30 p.m. PT in the club’s annual Pride Match presented by Starbucks Coffee Company (TICKETS). The evening features a program of can’t-miss action, on and off the pitch. Here are five reasons to attend the match:
1. Pride Presented by Starbucks Coffee Company
Though the Reign celebrates each and every day, join the club for its annual Pride Match presented by Starbucks Coffee Company for a lineup of unforgettable activities around the stadium. The first 5,000 in the stadium will receive co-branded Reign FC x Starbucks hand fans, perfect for cheering on the team and combatting the Seattle summer heat.
Attendees will have the opportunity to celebrate Pride at the club’s tutu making station, in addition to a Pride-themed crown making station and photo set up. Before the match and at halftime, there will be unforgettable drag performances brought to fans by TUSH, blending glamour, vibrant fun and infectious energy in a way only Seattle’s queens (and kings) can.
2. Momentum Behind the Team
Reign FC is undefeated in a five-game stretch, including three regular season road matches and two friendly matches in July. With a tally of ten goals across the five games, the team is hungry to maintain the momentum heading into the second half of the season. Seven players contributed to the Reign’s goalscoring efforts – defenders Jordyn Bugg and Sofia Huerta, midfielders Sally Menti and Ji So-Yun and forwards Emeri Adames, Lynn Biyendolo and Maddie Dahlien. Everything is on the line and every match is must-win as the 14 teams in the league battle for a coveted spot in the NWSL playoffs.
3. Fresh Faces Bolster the Roster
Seattle may have its deepest roster yet, as the club continues to strengthen its lineup with talent. Since taking a break from league play, the Reign have made two notable additions to the roster. Huerta, a fan favorite known for her ability to dominate on both sides of the ball, has returned from her loan in France and is ready to hit the ground running.
Forward Mia Fishel, a rising star that brings experience with Chelsea FC, Tigres UANL and the United States Women’s National Team, has integrated into Seattle’s culture seamlessly. Her creative attacking skills have impressed fans around the world – and now she’s here in Seattle, ready to put on a show at Lumen Field.
4. International Excellence
In addition to inviting Urawa Red Diamonds to Lumen Field for an international friendly match over the break, 15 Reign FC players joined their national teams for a combination of training camp and matches. Six players joined the United States Youth Women’s National Team for camp, ranging from the U-19 to U-23 age group, and nine players competed with their senior national teams across 13 matches collectively. Headlining the international play were Jess Fishlock and Angharad James-Turner, leading Wales in the nation’s first-ever appearance in a major tournament, and Ana-Maria Crnogorčević, bringing her experience to the pitch for Switzerland, the host of the Euros.
5. Matchup vs. Angel City FC
There’s something special about regional rivalries, especially on the west coast. Since Angel City entered the league in 2022, the teams have gone head-to-head 12 times, including seven regular season matches, four Challenge cup group stage matches and one NWSL playoff match. The Reign have scored nearly double the number of goals Angel City have in the series and have scored three or more goals against the Los-Angeles based team four times.
