Five Reasons to Attend Reign FC’s Match vs. Urawa on Sunday
Seattle Reign FC returns to the field this Sunday, July 20 at Lumen Field to take on Urawa Red Diamonds at 1:00 p.m. PT (TICKETS). This can’t-miss international matchup marks the start of an exciting summer of soccer in Seattle and serves as preparation for the NWSL’s return to play in August – a month when Reign FC will host three regular-season games at Lumen Field.
1. International talent on display
Urawa Red Diamonds, a powerhouse in Japanese women’s football, brings a fresh new test for Reign FC. The squad finished third place in the most recent WE League season and is a consistent contributor to the Japanese national team.
The club has a rich history of excellence and carries a technically refined style of play. The team also represented Japan in the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League last year, progressing to the quarterfinal round of the tournament.
2. Young core ready for more
This season, Reign FC’s talented group of young players have been paramount to the team’s success on the field – and they are just getting started. Six players joined the United States Youth National Team at various levels over the international break – Emeri Adames, Maddie Dahlien, Emily Mason, Ainsley McCammon, Sally Menti and Maddie Prohaska. Three Reign players also made their senior national team debuts for the United States – goalkeeper Claudia Dickey, defender Jordyn Bugg and midfielder Sam Meza.
3. Summer soccer in Seattle
After nearly eight weeks away from Lumen Field, the Reign are finally back and you won’t want to miss out on the exciting matchday. In addition to the exciting matchup on the pitch, the atmosphere at Lumen Field will be fueled by a series of fun activations around the stadium. For fans looking to make the matchday even more memorable, check out the exclusive pickleball promo offer, which includes a ticket to the match plus a Reign FC and Sounders FC branded pickleball paddle!
4. Keep the momentum going
Before going on break, the Reign were on a roll, going undefeated the entire month of June despite playing three consecutive road matches. The team will look to continue their momentum after some time away. In each of the team’s June matches, they scored at least two goals for a collective tally of eight goals scored across the three competitions. Prior to June, the Reign had only scored two goals in one match through the entire 2025 season.
5. Exciting roster news
As announced last week, the Reign signed Mia Fishel to a multi-year contract. The talented forward brings exciting new energy to the Reign’s attack, aided by the experience she has gained with Chelsea, Tigres and the United States Women’s National Team. Eager to entertain crowds at Lumen Field, Fishel’s signing undoubtedly gives fans something to look forward to as the Reign return to action.
