Five Reasons to Attend Reign FC’s RISE Together Match

After playing three consecutive matches on the road, Seattle Reign FC returns to Lumen Field on Sunday, August 9 at 6:00 p.m. to take on Angel City FC in the club’s annual RISE Together Match. With Reign FC riding the momentum of two consecutive wins, this match is sure to bring the excitement! Here are five reasons you should attend:

RISE Together | Turn commitment into action

For the second consecutive season, Reign FC is set to host the RISE Together Match, presented by CVS Health. This match serves as the physical manifestation of Reign FC’s deep-rooted commitment to our region – coming together to support local communities.

On matchday, fans are invited to enjoy a lineup of in-stadium recognition moments, in addition to taking action! In the North Plaza, join Reign FC to build Back-to-School kits for Mary’s Place to ensure that families experiencing homelessness have access to the supplies their children need to be prepared for the upcoming school year.

Assisted by volunteers from Looking Out Foundation, CVS Health and Mary's Place, fans will add important items like reusable water bottles, crayons, pencils, notebooks and more into the kits, courtesy of CVS Health.

Last season, Reign fans built 1,000 kits for Mary’s Place. This year, the club will be aiming to double that figure!

Home at long last | Reign FC returns to Lumen Field

It will have been nearly a month since the Reign last played at Lumen Field after embarking on the three-match road trip that took the team to New York City, San Diego and San Jose. On that road trip, the Reign earned six of a possible nine points, rising to ninth in the standings – just one place below Angel City FC.

The team will be energized to play at Lumen Field once again where the team recently achieved a notable attendance vs. Portland Thorns FC on July 12, bringing together nearly 15,000 fans for the rivalry match.

West Coast Foes | Reign FC vs. Angel City FC

Since Angel City FC joined the league as an expansion side, Reign FC has taken them on a total of 13 times across all competitions, resulting in nine wins, three losses and one draw. Through all of these matches, the two sides have developed a bit of a west coast rivalry.

The teams most recently went head-to-head last August at Lumen Field. The Reign were victorious in front of their home crowd, downing the LA-based side 2-0. Veteran midfielder Jess Fishlock scored the opening goal of the match, in addition to forcing an Angel City FC own goal to double the Reign’s lead and secure the win in the club’s annual Pride Match.

Keep the Momentum | Two wins in a row, three in four matches

The squad has been on a roll recently, fighting to earn three wins in the last four matches. In each of the matches, the Reign scored at least two goals, unlocking their offensive line that has been eager to score goals the entire season.

Maddie Mercado leads the way with three goals, with Mia Fishel not far behind at two goals – one penalty kick and one in the run of play. Ryanne Brown, Jordyn Bugg, Maddie Dahlien and Jess Fishlock all added a goal of their own.
