Seattle Reign FC defender Sofia Huerta is nominated for NWSL Assist of the Week for Week 17 of the regular season. She earned her nomination thanks to her game-tying assist against the Houston Dash. The assist not only secured a point on the road for the Reign but also broke the NWSL all-time assist record.

Huerta’s service on Sunday evening came from the right side of the field, as she calmly received a pass and settled the ball at her feet. Houston’s defense made the mistake of giving the 32-year-old time and space and she made the most of it, taking two touches before lofting the ball into the center of the 18-yard box, where forward Jordyn Huitema was waiting to receive it. The Canadian-international escaped her mark and headed the ball past Jane Campbell in the net, leveling the score.

The assist marked the 32nd of Huerta’s career and her first this season. She’s nominated alongside Ashley Sanchez, Izzy Rodriguez and Ella Hase.
