Jess Fishlock and Angharad James-Turner Called up to Wales EURO Squad

Reign FC Midfielders Jess Fishlock and Angharad James-Turner have been called up to the Wales Women’s National Team ahead of the UEFA European Women’s Championship (EURO) as part of Head Coach Rhian Wilkinson’s 23-player roster.

Head Coach Rhian Wilkinson has named 23 players to represent Wales in Switzerland as the team navigates its first major tournament. The road to qualification was long, coming after the nation narrowly failed to qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The determined Welsh side qualified for the tournament by winning Group B4 ahead of Croatia, Kosovo and Ukraine, and then defeating Slovakia and Republic of Ireland through the play-offs.  Cymru will have a tough major tournament debut in Group D, comprised of England, France and the Netherlands.

"This is a deeply meaningful moment for Jess, Haz and the entire nation of Wales. For them to help bring their country to its first-ever EUROs is historic — and for us as a club, it’s an honor to support players who make that kind of impact on and off the field,” said Seattle Reign FC General Manager Lesle Gallimore.

With 162 caps and 47 goals, Fishlock leads the nation. In Cymru’s qualifying campaign, she notched a team-high six goals. She most recently appeared for Wales when the team took on Italy in a 4-1 loss. Despite the scoreline, the midfielder netted one goal in the match.

James-Turner, a centurion for the team, was recently appointed captain of the squad. She was one of four players to wear the armband throughout the 2025 UEFA Women’s EURO qualifying campaign, before taking on the armband full time. She most recently appeared against Italy as well, playing a full 90 minutes in the match. The two will compete as part of a selection of Welsh midfielders that bring over 430 caps collectively.
