Match Forecast: Reign FC Returns to Seattle to Take on Boston Legacy FC
Seattle Reign FC returns to Lumen Field to host expansion side Boston Legacy FC for the first time ever. After two consecutive losses on the road, the team will look to continue their solid home run and inch closer to securing their spot in the NWSL playoffs.

Key Info Ahead of the Match:
1. LAST MEETING – The Reign took on Boston Legacy FC in Pawtucket, Rhode Island in May and battled to a 2-1 win, led to victory by goals from Sofia Huerta and Maddie Dahlien. Huerta opened the scoring in the eighth minute on a penalty kick, as Boston was whistled for a handball in the box. The rest of the first half went scoreless, and the Reign once again struck first in the second half. Madison Curry perfectly placed a cross to the corner of the six-yard box to Maddie Dahlien, who one-touch volleyed it into the back of the net in the 51st minute.
Boston pulled a goal back four minutes into stoppage time, as Emerson Elgin found Aïssata Traoré in front of goal just before the final whistle.
2. SCOUTING BOSTON – Most recently, Boston took on the Houston Dash and fell 2-1, despite being the dominant team for the majority of the match. The Legacy generated a handful of chances in the first half of play but were unable to capitalize, allowing Houston to take the lead in the 44th minute of the match on a corner kick.
Boston went on to equalize in the 58th minute as Nicki Hernandez served a cross into Aïssata Traoré to finish. However, Boston could not hold onto the lead, conceding a goal to Messiah Bright just five minutes before the end of the match.
Despite the loss, Boston has scored in its last 13 regular season matches. They are the first team in NWSL history, including all of the original 2013 teams, to score in 12 consecutive matches during its inaugural season in the league
3. HOME SWEET HOME – After two matches on the road, the Reign return to Lumen Field to take on Boston in front of a home crowd. The road trip brought two challenging matches for the Reign, so the team will be looking to right the ship and continue their excellent run of form at Lumen Field.
Since July, the Reign have five wins and one draw in Seattle and have outscored their opponents nine goals to two, only conceding goals in one of six matches. This home match will be critical for Seattle to pick up points, as the team currently sits in ninth place in the NWSL standings, just one spot out of playoff qualification.
4. PLAYERS TO WATCH – Reign FC forward Brittany Ratcliffe scored just one minute after entering the match against Denver to cut their lead to 2-1. Ratcliffe now has four goals this season, setting a new single-season career high in her 11th NWSL season.
Midfielder Sally Menti has been a regular in the middle of the field for the Reign. She has two goals and an assist this season and has started in five of the last six matches for Seattle.
For Boston, Aïssata Traoré has been an incredibly impactful player, adding 10 goals this season – more than any other Boston player. She scored Boston’s only goal against the Reign back in May. She has appeared in all but two matches this season and also added an assist.
Amanda Gutierres is another player to watch, as she has been a difference maker on the pitch for Boston, both starting and coming off the bench. When Boston played against Washington on September 13, Gutierres scored twice after subbing onto the field in the 84th minute. They were the third and fourth goals scored off the bench by Gutierres this season, which is the most goals a player has scored as a substitute in a single regular season in NWSL history.
