1. LAST MEETING – The Reign and Angel City last met on August 9 at Lumen Field, where they battled to a 2-2 draw. Angel City scored the lone goal of the first half in the 32nd minute as Gisele Thompson took her space and dribbled into Seattle’s 18-yard box to set up a low and powerful strike.
After halftime, it was the Reign who got the scoring started in front of their home crowd. The Reign’s high press forced Angel City goalkeeper Angelina Anderson to clear the ball and Ryanne Brown was there to pick it up, heading it to Mia Fishel in the middle of the pitch. Fishel quickly found Sally Menti, who directed her shot beyond Anderson to level the match. Two minutes later, Menti and Fishel did it again, but this time, Fishel was the one to get on the board. Ainsley McCammon played Menti a pass at the top of the box and with her back to goal, she one touched a square ball to Fishel, who soundly finished it.
However, Angel City equalized in the 72nd minute, as Evelyn Shores and Prisca Chilufya, two second half substitutes, combined to score from the right side of the field.

2. SCOUTING ANGEL CITY – Angel City FC are unbeaten in three matches, earning two wins before picking up a draw in their most recent match against expansion side Denver Summit FC. Notably, Angel City has scored 10 goals in their last three matches – the most goals in a three-match span in club history. They are one spot below the Reign in the NWSL standings, with 33 points from 23 games in ninth place.
In their most recent match, Angel City opened the scoring just before halftime on a 45th minute goal from Maiara Niehues. However, Denver scored three goals in the first 17 minutes of the second half, leaving the home side in a two-goal deficit.
Angel City answered almost immediately though, as Prisca Chilufya entered the match as a substitute in the 62nd minute and found the back of the net just a minute later, finishing a ball from Sveindís Jónsdóttir. Fighting to take an important point from the match, Angel City found the equalizer in the 74th minute as the team was awarded a penalty kick, which Ally Sentnor converted into lower left corner of the goal.
3. MIDWEEK MATCH – Seattle plays in one of two Wednesday matches in the NWSL this week, creating a busy schedule for the squad. The Reign last played on Saturday. September 12 and plays again on Saturday, September 19, making this a three-game week.

4. PLAYERS TO WATCH – Reign FC recorded its ninth shutout of the season against Bay FC on Saturday, highlighting the excellence of team’s defensive unit. Anchoring the backline is center back Jordyn Bugg, who can always be counted on to perform at a high level. Her collected demeanor will prove useful against Angel City FC’s high-flying attack.
On the opposite end of the field, Maddie Mercado remains atop of list of players to watch. Though she didn’t get on the scoreboard against Bay FC on Saturday, she created the most chances of any Reign player on the field and posted the second-highest passing accuracy.
For Angel City, Maiara Niehues, who added a goal against Denver over the weekend, has scored in seven of her last nine NWSL appearances, bringing her season total to eight goals. Sarah Gorden, a mainstay in Angel City’s backline, is another player to watch.
