Seven Reign FC Players Called Up to Senior National Teams
Seattle Reign FC has seven players joining their national teams as the NWSL takes a brief break from the regular season before resuming on decision day.
Jordyn Bugg and Claudia Dickey have been called into United States Women’s National Team’s 26-player training camp roster for three friendly matches – two against Portugal and one against New Zealand. Both players have made two appearances for the United States Women’s National Team previously.
The larger than usual roster allows Head Coach Emma Hayes flexibility in selecting the 23-player gameday roster for each match. Originally, midfielder Sam Meza was called up to the squad but was replaced on the roster as she suffered a mild hamstring strain.
Jess Fishlock and Angharad James-Turner are set to join the Welsh national team. Fishlock, the most capped Welsh player of all time, will play her final match for Wales, as the team takes on Australia in the first of two friendly matches. The nation is set to celebrate her illustrious international career at the match, before playing in a second friendly. James-Turner will be available for the second fixture against Poland.
Jordyn Huitema has been called up to the 24-player Canadian National Team roster for two friendlies, both on the road, against Switzerland and the Netherlands. The 24-year-old has 90 caps for Canada and 23 goals. She has played in 21 matches for the Reign this season and added three goals.
Ana-Maria Crnogorčević joins Switzerland for the nation’s first international action since the Euros were played on home soil. The team is set to play two friendly matches – the first against Canada and the second against Scotland. The attacker has played in 12 games for the Reign this season.
Closing out the Reign’s international call ups, Nérilia Mondésir has been called up to the Haitian National Team for a match against Morocco. The match, scheduled for October 28 in Casablanca, marks the start of the nation’s final phase of preparation for World Cup qualifying.
