As announced today, Seattle Reign FC has partnered with Trupanion, a Seattle-based pet medical insurance company in a landmark deal that places Trupanion front and center on the Reign’s kit, ushering in an exciting new era side by side.
This partnership means more, as the two Seattle-based entities come together, united by the common values and goals they hold as pioneers in the Seattle market.
"There’s this tremendous alignment,” said Trupanion CEO Margi Tooth. “Not only are we two brands, two entities who are trying to do things the right way for the long term, not only for our business purposes, but actually for the communities and the people we act closely with, but also we're in similar situations.”
As a founding member of the National Women’s Soccer League, Reign FC has been at the forefront of pushing the league forward for over a decade, taking the league to new heights, through every trial and triumph, both on and off the pitch. As a club that has been rooted in purpose since day one, Trupanion fits right into the family as the Reign continue to rise to the occasion.
A women-led business headquartered in Seattle, Trupanion exemplifies the excellence of the region and opportunity for growth on both a local and global scale – traits reflected in the Reign as well.
“I feel like it's very similar to Reign – a huge opportunity, massive audience is hungry for something like NWSL, and Reign being at the forefront and one of the founding godmothers of that. I think it’s the same as Trupanion. We’re one of the oldest and we're the biggest. I think there's a lot of synergy there to help come join forces together to make us both have the impact that I think we're deserving of,” said Tooth.
She continued, “This is a partnership that goes beyond our local market. We're an international brand, we're a global brand, increasingly so. We're very small internationally, but knowing that we have a brand that can move with us as we grow into different audiences and different countries is super powerful and I think it sets us up for the long term together.”
Trupanion’s partnership with the Reign marks a historic milestone for the club and could not come at a better time. As the NWSL continues to grow, so does the Reign. From play on the field and the developing roster, to the club’s first full season in its new Seattle-soccer rooted era and new partners like Trupanion, the future is being reimagined.
“It felt like now is the right time. Seattle is our home. It's where we were, our first landing outside of Canada into US market and it just was the stars aligned, I think. Not only do we have the right time and the energy and dedication to put towards something like this from a brand perspective, but we also recognize that today's world needs a brand that's going to take care of them. I think the community that is created between Trupanion and Reign is a powerful bubble that can help people feel like they're supported.”
The budding multi-year partnership is just kicking off and there’s a lot to look forward to. Together, the two organizations share strong local roots, a belief in equity and a passion for the power of pets and sport to unite communities, and are set to champion these values for years to come.
“Being at the forefront of a team that isn't afraid to do things the right way gives everybody a lot more confidence in how you execute and what you stand up for, and I'm tremendously excited about how we can do that together,” Tooth shared.
“My hope is that by being on the front of shirt, for us as a brand, we're close to your heart, and your pet is close to your heart, and your favorite team is close to your heart. It's a symbolic reference to what I think that we can bring to a pet parent who loves their pet just as dearly as they love their family.”
Be a part of this historic partnership launch at Lumen Field this Friday, October 10 as Reign FC takes on Bay FC at 7:30 p.m. PT. Fans in attendance will have opportunity to bring their 2025 Reflection or Rise kits to the match on Friday to have Trupanion’s iconic logo added to the front at no cost.
