USWNT Beats Canada 1-0 in Second SheBelieves Match

On the second matchday of the SheBelieves Cup, the United States and Canada went head-to-head in an intense battle to move to the top of the table. Reign FC’s Claudia Dickey was available on the bench but did not make an appearance for the USWNT, while Jordyn Huitema subbed into the match for Canada in the 61st minute of the match.

Though it took a little bit of time for both teams to settle into the match, the United States eventually took the reins of the match, outshooting the Canadians 18-6, but still struggling to connect the final ball needed to get on the scoresheet. The match was decided by Ally Sentnor’s 55th minute goal. The play started with a corner kick for the United States, which was delivered into the box from Rose Lavelle. The service slipped through to Sentnor, who took one touch before striking the ball into the back of the net.

With just one matchday left, the U.S. occupies the top spot in the SheBelieves Cup standings, with six points from two wins. Headed into the final matchday of the competition, the United States needs a draw or win against Colombia to win their eighth SheBelieves Cup title and Canada will be vying for three points against Argentina.
